AMA 'definitely in favour' of NSW stricter COVID measures to contain the Delta strain

NSW AMA President Dr Danielle McMullen says she is “definitely in favour” of stricter COVID-19 measures to contain the Delta outbreak in Greater Sydney and parts of regional NSW.

“We’re definitely in favour of stricter measures and in fact think everything should be done by government to make sure that the people of NSW, no matter whether you are, in Sydney, regional New South Wales or elsewhere, have a clear set of rules to follow.

“Know that we all need to be doing our part to be restricting our movement, staying at home and getting these numbers under control.

“At this time, it is vitally important that people from Sydney are not leaving Sydney, these are really strict measures that have been put in place.

“We think they’re necessary to keep the numbers under control, get that trend curving down so that we have some time for vaccinations to work so that our health system can continue to function and deliver care to people who need it most.”
