Bill published for regulation of medicinal cannabis

A Bill to regulate the production, import, marketing and supply of cannabis for medicinal purposes has been published today.

This follows the announcement by the Minister for Public Health, John Cortes, during last month’s budget debate.

The Government says it’s keen to support the efforts of the private sector by establishing the appropriate legal framework to create a robustly regulated medicinal cannabis industry. It says it has spared no effort in ensuring the proposed legislation creates the potential for a new industry that complies with the UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs.
