CBD stands for Cannabidiol – it is the 2nd most prevalent active ingredient in Cannabis.
CBD does not make you high like THC does, and there is currently no evideience of any public health problems associated with CBD.
According to the FDA, in June of 2018 they approved the first drug called Epidiolix containing CBD to help treat rate and severe forms of epilepsy as it has been found to significanlty reduce seizures

CBD effects the Endocannabinoid System – the Endocannabanoid system is a system inside all humans and thousands of other living animals which is comprised of receptors that interract with CBD and THC. These receptors are called CB1 and CBD2
CB1 receptors are found in the brain and central nervous system, which these systems maintain core functions such as motor activity, pain perception, stress response and memory.
Cb2 receptors are found throughout the organs in the body directly effecting the immune system, muscular system, and cardiovascular system.
To say that the human body was designed to benefit from CBD and THC is an understatement, you could almost say that it needs both combounds to thrive.

CBD can also help with chronic pain. A study from the European Journal of Pain showed, CBD applied on the skin could help lower pain and inflammation due to arthritis. Another study demonstrated the mechanism by which CBD inhibits inflammatory and neuropathic pain, two of the most difficult types of chronic pain to treat.

The comprehensive review of 132 original studies by Bergamaschi et al. describes the safety profile of CBD, mentioning several properties: catalepsy is not induced and physiological parameters are not altered (heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature). Moreover, psychological and psychomotor functions are not adversely affected. The same holds true for gastrointestinal transit, food intake, and absence of toxicity for nontransformed cells. Chronic use and high doses of up to 1500 mg per day have been repeatedly shown to be well tolerated by humans.

At lower doses, it has physiological effects that promote and maintain health, including antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotection effects. For instance, CBD is more effective than vitamin C and E as a neuroprotective antioxidant
