Bruce Lee was an iconic martial artist, teacher, philosopher, actor, and director who founded the martial art Jeet Kune Do, blazed a trail in the entertainment industry, and changed perceptions of Asian people. Today, more than four decades after his tragic death in 1973, at the age of 32, he is still revered globally for his contributions to the martial arts and to popular culture. Multiple statues have been erected in his honor. So, why then does the government in his Hong Kong hometown not officially honor him?
