** D: First up: In a report by Cannabis Dispensary, the cannabis company Caliva announced its plans to launch a career training and mentorship program, in partnership with Chrysalis.
“The business and partners Chrysalis and Success Centers, both non-profit organizations, have begun to assist recently released prisoners in California to reenter society,” reads the press release. “The three entities plan to eventually expand their work together to support people who are homeless and have low incomes.”
“When we heard the news that California state prison systems would be releasing hundreds of thousands of people to slow the spread of COVID-19, we knew we had to take action to help make a difference in our community,” said Caliva CEO Dennis O’Malley. “We’re fortunate enough to be in a position where we were able to hire some candidates already and have been extremely impressed by the talent thus far.”
** R: And next: PRNewswire reports that the cannabis company Harvest Health & Recreation has reached a settlement with previous owners of Interurban Capital Group.
“We are pleased to settle this dispute and move forward,” said Chief Executive Officer Steve White. “We are very excited to continue to focus on our core business operations as we execute on our plan to return to profitability.”
According to a press release: “Harvest will cancel a total of 42,378.4 Multiple Voting Shares issued to the small group of previous owners of ICG. Harvest will also receive a $12 million secured promissory note with 7.5% interest and five-year maturity.”
** D: Last up: In a report by Whole Foods Magazine, the company Dr. Bronner’s has released a limited edition cannabis-scented bar soap in support of the Sun+Earth Certified Campaign.
The campaign seeks to expand regenerative organic cannabis farming to more regions in the U.S. and will use generated funds to subsidize regenerative organic farming costs.
“In alignment with those values, the Sun+Earth Certified program addresses problems in the cannabis industry, which is dominated by energy intensive indoor operations and practices that rely on toxic chemical fertilizers, rather than regenerative models that rely on sunlight and healthy living soil,” said David Bronner, CEO of Dr. Bronner’s, in a press release.
