Investing Pro Quick Tip: this one is from Warren Buffett
When investing in a stock pretend that you are buying the entire company..its the same process even if you are buying only a single share or a million shares..this is a super powerful concept..with this idea Buffett likes to come up with his own value of a company before he looks at stock price or current market cap of a company..This way you can control your emotions when buying a company.
Example:
Tesla this stock has been in the news recently since it was recently added to the s&p 500
2016 7 billion revenue lost 674 million income; 2017 11.76 billion revenue lost 1.96 billion; 2018 21.46 billion revenue lost 976 million income; 2019 24.58 billion revenue lost 862 million; 2020 28.14 billion revenue made 556 million income… revenue growth rate 41.58% over last 4 years and cant caclulate eps growth rate since it lost money 4/5 years
But even being generous we can give it a pe of 41 which would make a market cap value of 22.796 with a pe of 41..
now what is the current market cap price of Tesla today 554.295 billion with an astronimical pe ratio of 1,118.09… So with out being emotionally attached to Tesla I think the logical conclusion is Tesla currently is way to expensive at 554.295 billion with a pe of 1,118.09. They may have really cool cars which they do but stock is not attractive at current price on 12/1/20
