Johannesburg CBD fire set to be investigated
It’s been a tragic day for thec in Johannesburg.
Three of their firefighters died in a Johannesburg building blaze, while the fourth one remains unaccounted for. This after a fire broke out at a government department building this morning. Twenty people including 7 firefighters were rushed to hospital for smoke inhalation.
Unions say the building was declared unsafe by the department of labour last year. Gauteng Premier, David Makhura visited the site earlier tonight. Addressing the media, he said a report that was released last week reveals that seven other buildings in the CBD are non-compliant with safety regulations.
