Louisiana Law Allowing Medical Marijuana For Any Debilitating Condition To Take Effect. After many state legislatures adjourned due to the coronavirus, the Louisiana State Legislature continued its work — with social distancing precautions — and approved three bills to improve the state’s medical cannabis program. Gov. John Bel Edwards signed them all into law and they took effect on August 1, 2020.
