“I was approached after the birth about taking part in this study and I consulted my mum and my brother who is training to be a paramedic. It was hard but I wanted to do everything I could to help my baby boy.
Prof Paul Clarke, a consultant neonatologist at NNUH, stated:
“This is the first time a cannabis-derived medicine has been tested intravenously in human babies. It is hoped that it will be good for preventing seizures and protecting the brains of newborn babies with HIE.”

A 2019 study from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy found that 62% of U.S. pharmacy schools surveyed had already incorporated medical cannabis into their doctorate of pharmacy programs, and another 23% planned to incorporate it into their programs in the next 12 months.

Results
Forty nine percent (68/140) of schools and colleges completed the survey and 62% (44/68) include medical marijuana content in their curriculum. Of the schools and colleges that do not include it, 23% (6/26) plan to incorporate medical marijuana topics within the next 12 months. In regards to perceived importance of specific topics related to medical marijuana, all topics received a median score of three on a scale of one to five, with one being of high importance.
